Benvenuto!

scroll139.jpgHello! Welcome to my website and blog.

When used as an Italian idiom, per caso implies a wonderful process by which stuff comes together to create an opportunity that is seemingly by chance.

There are many other words… luck [when preparation meets opportunity]; courage [putting what’s important to you above your fear]; karma, destiny, fate….

I like these concepts because they encourage us to increase our awareness and live in the moment.Sig120

Please enjoy my site… it challenges me to acknowledge my courage and prepare for my luck!

AIDS Awareness Month
National Pizza Month
Domestic Violence Awareness Month

One of my duties at my marketing job is to produce an electronic newsletter with content from many press releases submitted to me for publication. As I worked in the site backroom and processed the October newsletter, I noticed my community’s interest in three very important causes to be aware of this month, noted above.

I have known for many years that October was AIDS Awareness Month and October 1st being HIV/AIDS Day because that has been my primary cause of choice to support since the late 80’s. And of course Breast Cancer Awareness Month was the next ribbon I became aware of for October a long time ago.

With a quick Google I also discovered Hispanic Heritage Month and Disability Awareness Month. Being overwhelmed with the nearly 1.5 million returns to my search for “October holidays” I quickly turned into my alter-ego “Are you kidding me-Girl” and became astounded at how I could reach this great GenBoomX age and not have known about “National Talk Like a Pirate Day”!

AND, how could I possibly have not known about National Sarcastics Month or Moldy Cheese Day. Some sites list up to five very special things to celebrate PER DAY!

Seeking a calming (and authoritative influence:), I surfed over to my happy place, Wikipedia. It took some coaxing, but I found what I wanted under just plain ‘holiday’. A bit of a scroll to Unofficial Holidays and they define this phenomenon as follows “These are holidays celebrated by various groups and individuals. Some are designed to promote a cause, others recognize historical events not recognized officially, and others are “funny” holidays, generally intended Ribbons2as humorous distractions and excuses to share laughs among friends.”

What’s my point?… who knows… I’m just thankful that I don’t need “Babbling Day” to share a laugh with my friends. And who the hell is Sylvia Plath? I guess I’ll wait till October 27th to find out!

And thank the universe for www.personalizedcause.com and their ribbon guide… it’s a difficult job, but someone has to do it.

In case you’re completely insane and wanting for more…
